I think that now that we are seeing multimedia types of productions with videos and pictures and human beings performing the acts that animals used to perform, such as in Cirque du Soleil and other traveling troops, there is no need to parade animals around anymore in cages for personal gratification.

The doctor didn't want me to play golf anymore and was worried about me fly-fishing. Golf is something I enjoy, but fly-fishing is a different thing: That's religion. Hunting is religion for me. I didn't want to give those up.

We overcame it, so that's the lesson to impart to my guys. Not that they need to bring anymore intensity and focus to the game. Don't get caught up in the circumstances of the other team. That message was lived in reverse for us last year.

Winning's kind of like a drug, it's addictive. The girls are really excited and are enjoying it. As far as playing hard, I don't worry about it anymore with these girls because they're going to keep playing hard in order to keep winning.

When I think back on my favorite teachers, I don't remember anymore much of what they taught me, but I sure remember being excited about learning it. What has stayed with me are not the facts they imparted, but the excitement about learning they inspired.

Being a part of this, knowing I won't coach here anymore and won't coach these guys anymore was definitely a tough situation. But I'm proud of them, and they can hold their heads up high because they did a great job fighting back.

Birthdays don't really matter much anymore ... for me, I sort of have a new birthday and that's October 2nd, the day I was diagnosed, ... the day we all sort of look to and mark these milestones by one year, two year, five year, 10 year. Hopefully, I have a 50 year.
