We're extremely troubled by the prospect that the legislature is attempting to hold our proposed merger hostage, and to that end we will be considering all options, including the legal route.

We're hoping that people realize it's an attempt to try to have a healthy campus environment while respecting the interests and needs of those who do smoke. At this point it's a reasonable compromise, but hopefully no additional action will be needed if everybody's reasonable about it.

Republicans continue their noisy death rattle knowing that polls show that this is their last opportunity to place this amendment on the ballot before they lose the Governorship and State House to Democrats this fall.

Many a fine SF story uses science or technology merely as backdrop. Many a fine SF story presumes a technological breakthrough and explores its implications without attempting to predict how the thing might actual work.

We shall be forced to attempt planned and directed research employing hundreds of workers for many years, and this cannot be done without risking the loss of independence and originality. This is a serious and fundamental obstacle but it may be overcome in two ways.
