We're still a number of days away from going through the budget process.

We're seeing a firming of IT budgets throughout the United States, ... We are seeing budgets get set.

He hopes that the students stay engaged throughout this process and that they participate on campus as college presidents make the same kinds of tough decisions that the governor did with this budget.

He gets a lot of the issues in terms of a taxpayer's point of view. More of our budget will have to shift to the welfare families. What Congress is doing is going to make it even harder for low-income working parents.

When Dan Cooper puts together a budget that shatters state spending records, I can understand why he's sensitive about someone looking over his shoulder. But Gov. Sanford's job is to look out for the hard-working taxpayers of this state, and that's always going to be his top priority.
