The potential is that there could have been a surprise that could have influenced the Fed next Tuesday, and clearly that hasn't happened. But employment is a lagging indicator. So the report is not a reflection of where the economy is going, but where it's been.

The pleasantness of an employment does not always evince its propriety.

We are seeing a series of good indicators pointing to solid recovery: improving production, improving exports, improving employment and improving spending.

From a macro standpoint, clearly we're looking for information regarding employment (data from the government) on Friday as the next catalyst. There's been no information that's been market-moving as of late. But in general, the environment for tech investing has been good.

Gains in employment and the stock market continue to support confidence. Household income is expected to grow at rates that will sustain growth in consumer spending.

Gains have been broad-based, and that's encouraging because the fact that the increases in employment are not dependent on one particular industry suggests that this improvement in job creation is on a sustainable trend.

Firms don't just try to pay as little as possible to get the needed bodies on board; when there is unemployment, they ask themselves how wage cuts would affect the behavior of the employees. Would they quit or feel dissatisfied and work less hard on the firm's behalf if they feel that wage policies are unfair?

Are deviations from full employment a social problem? Obviously.

I'm just opposed to a pure inflation-only mandate in which the only thing a central bank cares about is inflation and not employment.

Will capitalist economies operate at full employment in the absence of routine intervention? Certainly not,
