Sculptural Quotations

To indicate the ideal proportion and reveal sculptural mass and the dominating spirit is my goal.

While much of the work is made from the traditional media of painting, sculpture and photography, other work is very nontraditional in particular those submissions by grad students in the sciences that were done as a part of professional development, such as photographs of spinal cords, reproductions of microscopic views or sculptural models of electrical coils.

Coral is a study in contrasts delicately engineered yet sculptural in shape. It holds a natural allure that appeals to our love of all things bright and beautiful.

A lot of designs are grounded in history even though they tend to be clean and not overly ornate. The sculptural form is often historic. If you come to our exhibit, a lot of things will look familiar.

These pieces relate to the sculptural work. Sculpture is a very physical art form for him and these are very physical, too.

I like to treat paint as material - to daub it, drop it, let it slide. There was Action Painting, but I also compare it to paint effects found on the streets. This approach is superimposed on a sculptural surface that is also 'painterly.'

The jackets, pants and long coats have sculptural cuts. I must say, though, that some of the silhouettes have an egg or tulip shape that's a bit larger, inspired by haute couture.
