I have a tremendous amount of respect for the guys on this roster and I'm looking forward to playing with them. This is going to be a very competitive division, one that could be the most exciting in the NHL.

I got a cashier's check (for $3,900). If I deposited the check, I was to call back the person in the letter for further instructions.

I was pretty fired up. Yeah, (the ovation) was nice but it would have been nicer when they cheer for a win. That's what we're here for.

I'm not going to lie - it wasn't fun. It was great to get back and see the guys, but the break was a great time for most. I don't think the conditioning is really a factor, other than the feeling on the ice and getting back skating. But that will come back quickly.

I loved it. That's why I'm so frustrated (about the groin injury). I'm so proud to be here.

I pride myself on doing whatever's asked of me, but there's no question that's what I like to do. It certainly gets me into the game that way.

I played for a lot of years in this league with integrity and honor. I'm proud to be who I am. I don't feel bad. But I feel the whole situation is regrettable.

I didn't feel my best. It's funny, I've never had a groin injury. They're kind of nagging. They don't hurt; you just feel a lack of strength. I've talked to a few buddies, and it appears that it's a trend around the league right now.

(The injuries) were costly. But in dealing with the injuries it brings you closer together and you become tighter. Adversity builds character, and every team gets tested in some way. I think we did a pretty good job dealing with them.

(The hit) was borderline, probably. There's no question it was on the edge. It was ruled a clean hit, but I recognize when you hit the other team's captain, somebody's coming to stand up for him. I don't want to hurt a guy.
