Robert did the scoring the first quarter, all of it, I think. Then we had to get Austin some looks and he was definitely in the flow.
He's just a flat-out scorer. And he did it while giving it up if he didn't have a shot. And he created a lot for himself, too.
The thing I'm happy about is that he bounced back from that early game. It was a tough game for him, and he came back and played very, very well.
We tried to put pressure on their shooters so they couldn't make that (entry) pass. We had the other guys sagging off and making them back up to catch it.
I think our kids almost like that. They almost thrive off of it.
No, I don't think it's hit until I got into this gym. But now it's starting to hit pretty hard. On behalf of the players, coaches and managers, um, wow ? the support from this community is unbelievable.
We knew we had to put a lot of pressure on the basketball to stop their inside game.
We knew we had to get him involved. They had him locked down pretty good in the first half, and they had to be thrilled that he only had four points. But once he hits one of those (3-pointers), he can get going and knock down a lot more.
We knew we could be good as long as we could get them to buy into team first and things like that, and they've done that. They bought that from Day 1 and just kind of trusted each other. We started playing our best basketball at the end.
These guys believe in each other and trust in each other and the coaches. The more the games get tense, the more we relax. I don't know if it's an adrenaline rush, but the guys get very level headed.
