That's where the mentors come in. We make a commitment for at least one year to meet with a specific student weekly. We shoot hoops, play board games, help out a little bit with homework if needed basically we become a friend.
A bunch of us just saw a need. It's really all about teaching kids to develop positive relationships.
Then we try to match kids up with a mentor.
Everyone knows that a bad relationship can be toxic and a good relationship can be magical. We're looking to infuse a little more magic into the lives of these children.
Nothing would make me happier than sitting in the bleachers at Fitch watching Jesse graduate some day. That would truly be the moment of a lifetime.
