He had some stomach pains but he ignored them, being the tough guy that he is. He would think nothing of it. But I guess it became unbearable for him and he had to go to the hospital.
It was tough to lose him because he is a starter and he came to practice every day, ready to work hard. To see him go down like that is a reality check. It's a reminder not to take anything for granted.
It's been a rough time for the family but it has helped pull everyone on the team together. We've tried to visit Kevin as much as possible and call him after every game to keep his spirits up. But he's been a real inspiration for us, too.
What can't he do? Whenever we need anything, he's the guy to go to.
It wasn't getting the lead, it was keeping the lead throughout the game.
