I think this is the best we could have done given the current economic situation on campus right now.
No progress was made, so things haven't changed at all. We came in prepared to move off our final offer (of 14 percent), and we're willing to split the difference at 12 percent. That's a fair settlement.
Management is taking a very hard line, refusing to compromise. We are open to compromise, and unless they do, we will have a strike.
I'm hopeful we can get a solution by Friday. Otherwise, it looks like we'll strike next week.
Our final offer is basically asking for the steps we missed during the freeze.
We're pleased we won't have to strike on Wednesday.
