I think that they are outstanding people who could bring this college to where it should be. Both of these people I feel very comfortable with.
Lap-band does make it easier to cheat. Liquid foods slide right through the band, so it doesn't stop you from eating things like ice cream.
If there's a problem, you can easily reverse (lap-band) by removing the band. It's the safest weight-loss procedure available, with a (national) mortality rate of 1 in 2,000, compared to 1 in 200 for gastric bypass.
In the lap-band procedure, we put an elastic band around the neck of the stomach, just below the end of the esophagus. Solid food has to cross the band to get to the lower part of the stomach, so you don't need to eat as much to feel full.
