(The pilot) contacted the tower, did a fly-by in which (air traffic controllers) inspected the gear, found the other landing gear was intact and made the decision at that point to go ahead and land the aircraft.
Inherently with any mechanical operation, I don't think it should cause any concern for air travelers.
