Mining and milling operations have been temporarily suspended as a precautionary measure. The Indonesian authorities are working to resolve the situation in a peaceful and expeditious manner.

We are very pleased to report that the situation at the Grasberg Mine in Papua has been resolved peacefully and our operations resumed at approximately 6 p.m. (0900 GMT) on Saturday.

We have been transparent about our logistical support for the Indonesian security forces. Support for the government security institutions is provided pursuant to government requests for its legitimate requirements and is in accord with our contract of work, applicable laws ... and internal procedures.

Workers have returned and started the evening shift. The blockade was opened voluntarily, and the protesters have given their demands to Freeport and the local administration. We will continue discussing their demands.

We do not use cyanide or mercury in our process. Our mine tailings are simply finely ground natural rock and are non-toxic.
