It's not a way to supplement their income, they do this because they want to help. It's a wonderful thing to work with people like that.
It's neat seeing the continuum of care. I'll pick someone up in the ambulance, then see them at the hospital. Sometimes they then need to be transferred to Mason City and I'll be on the transfer.
Every rural ambulance service in the state of Iowa is struggling. We are so lucky in Algona with our volunteers and our fire department.
It's a whole new avenue of learning. I've made no decisions on a specialty, but I do know I want to stay local.
