I don't want to say you have to play football to be a good coach. But it helps build a rapport with the kids. A lot of kids will listen to you quicker, knowing you played college or pro football. With us, the kids come out to see us play.
I love the game. There's going to come a time when I can't play anymore. While you can play, and you want to play, you should. Why not?
I'll judge it by our first weekend game. A lot of people work and have kids and can't come to a Thursday game. I'm anxious to see how it is for our first weekend game.
They call us out on stuff, when they see mistakes.
I guess it's like having two or three jobs. It's a lot of hours, but it's fun. Teaching and coaching, you don't do if for the money. Sure, it pays the bills but it's mostly for fun if you really think about it.
