We are used to getting open without a whole lot of effort in our league (the Northern Lakes League). Those guys switch screens hard and they jump out on you. You've got to be that much better execution-wise.
They are quicker than anyone we play. I compared them to East Chicago Central, a team we played at a holiday tournament. They are the quickest team we have played and they are the most athletic team we have played.
Obviously, in the second half, we handled their pressure a lot better. We had 15 turnovers in the first half and five in the second. Our kids battled. They kept bringing it and bringing it and bringing it.
We finished tonight and I had talked about how we didn't finish in the other two games. We felt they didn't beat us, but it was more that we lost the games.
Without ever having a lead we were scrambling. The guys we played played a lot of minutes.
We lost a couple of close ones to Perrysburg, including one that went to triple overtime. We jumped out to a big lead and I really liked the way we finished. Perrysburg was scoring about 71 points a game and we held them to 44.
We failed miserably at winning the league title, but we still can go for a district title.
I think the light bulb is starting to go on for Jordan. He's beginning to use his size and quickness to his advantage, but I thought he kind of lost his legs in the second half.
We were up four and they came right back and got a 3 in transition and got right back in it. This was a tough one.
They made one more play than we did. It was a heck of a pass and a heck of a catch. If it goes in, we're celebrating right now. But it was a great environment here tonight. Our kids competed and that's all I can ask of them.
