She's a tremendous middle blocker. You can't teach instinct and she has it.
One of our biggest concerns is blocking. So we'll play a rotation defense.
One of the major things for us was we were playing a 5-1 offense. We normally play a 4-2 offense. That changed the complexion of the game.
We get caught so many times when we're not penetrating with our hands to block.
We definitely want to make it to state. I see us second or third in our region. (The power points) make our preseason more important than in the past.
When Kyra sets it makes her a lot more vocal and involved. She has a tendency when she's not setting to become an island. Kyra's a really smart player.
We've got those four key players. Other than that, it's tough we've got a lot of new faces.
Tonight was not a great match. There was no intensity. The kids were so flat. Last night they were so excited. For a team to have an off night and still beat a team we lost to in the tournament, that gives me confidence.
That's one thing I would like to see us improve on, is serving more aggressively. Brenna Redmond does a good job coming off the bench and putting some spin on serves, but that's something we don't do enough.
It leaves us vulnerable to tips, but boys go down the lines so well, I felt we needed to adjust.
It was nice to win against Mountain View they're definitely in a rebuilding mode like we are. Our chemistry as a team has gotten much better, we're really hustling down balls.
It was a good opportunity to get everyone some playing time.
Aggressive serving is more important in boys. Passing is a skill that seems harder for boys to develop so I think aggressive serving can be more of a tool.
The down official wasn't on the correct side of the net. It sucks momentum from your kids. It hurt our morale. Our defense improved tremendously.
