We want the drivers, the crews and the strategy to decide a race, not some little innovative deal. We want the cars to be as equal as can be and let the best teams win. That has served the sport pretty well to date.

We have to make sure that whatever we do to the cars that it is scientific and not shade tree. We have thought about this before I think we will wrench up the research and get a lot more input but I don't think it will happen before the Daytona 500.

It was just the fact that ours (fuel use) was so visible; our cars used gas. If you took a typical NFL weekend, with planes criss-crossing the country with teams, one team would use as much or more fuel back and forth across the country than we would in 10 races or so.

It's become a problem. We know it's a problem. Any solution that we look for, we have to make sure we don't make the cars less safe instead of more safe. That's the No. 1 thing ...
