Aside from perhaps the famous scream at the end of door No. 5, I couldn't tell you how that music sounds. You will not go home humming the tunes. But I think you go away from the theatre changed, haunted by the imagery.
And without disparaging Rent in any way, shape or form, the best music in all of Rent are the chords taken from Puccini that are echoed through it.
