Fatigue and the flip were both factors because we had a tough match against Mahnomen.
He's proved to me and proved to other kids in the region that he should be a one or two seed.

We started off by losing a tough one at 103 and we rebounded well with Javier and Mariano (Portillo) having big wins.
He was wrestling really tough on the day and you can't coach balance and quickness and Javier has both. And once they get the momentum going it's hard to stop that youth.
That kid was a smart wrestler. He's a senior with experience but all in all we're happy with the way Javier wrestled. He didn't make any mistakes or force any bad moves.
Any time you see an eighth grader take it to a senior like that it always makes the other coaches cringe and it makes me smile.
We ended up winning all four of those key matches and it would have been a different story if we lost those but we steam-rolled them.
He's a senior and he has to prove to himself that he can handle it.
