We felt like she had varsity potential from the start. She's a physical player and gives us more options.
We're still learning, but we have a lot more experience than we did last year when we were 0-3 in the league at this time last season. After the East Valley game, we've been focused on improving every game.
Mackenzie played phenomenal here. She really stepped up her game.
Mackenzie made Russell work extra hard for every shot.
She was the fifth player I've had clear 1,000 points. But most of the others were doing it in their senior years.
She still needs to get a little big of strength. She doesn't need muscles, just a bit more toughness.
She does a lot of the little things that don't show up in the box score. She plays tough defense, sets screens and passes the ball. There isn't a coach in the state that wouldn't want her on their team.
She's a good ball player. She gives us some rebounding and good defense on the post.
She played well. She was working hard out there.
My hat's off to her. She did one heck of a job out there. A lot of other girls wouldn't have played. Late in the game though, she was tired and it started to hurt again.
I was pleased with the way everyone played. We were able to get out and run.
Cassidy's so good at so many things, and she definitely made a clutch shot there near the end. It was good game and we played well. We just had to take better care of the ball and we did that in the second half.
Kayla just dominated the game. I thought the game would be closer.
We didn't really catch a break in playing Prosser instead of West Valley. Prosser was the better team on Friday night.
The defense has been there since the end of districts.
We'll have to see how they both feel in practice. They might be available against Hanford in a limited role.
This was 32 minutes of Craig Faire basketball. We had played 20, 22, 24 minutes of defense before. We put together a whole game (Wednesday).
We had a goal to hold them under double digits.
We had a game plan coming into the game. We went out there and executed it.
We weren't scoring on offense and we weren't playing any defense.
We had our opportunities. The girls didn't quit. They easily could've folded their tents.
We went through three defenses and we couldn't stop them. I called a timeout and told the girls it was up to them.
Early on, Brittany gave up some points for assists. She was able to find Kayla for some easy baskets.
Sometimes I have to remind myself that she is just a sophomore.
Anything can happen in a loser-out game. But I had confidence the team could win three games and make state.
All 10 girls contributed, right down the line. We have to have that.
This is a big honor for these girls. They are a special group. The girls are very hard working. On Monday and Tuesday preparing to be here, they were the most focused I've ever seen them.
They ran a box-and-one on her in the first half and frustrated her. Plus they had a good athlete guarding her.
It was a tough game, especially with that start.
It was a successful tournament for us. We played tough teams and improved.
It's always nervous in the first round. You never know what is going to happen this time of year.
It's good to get this one out of the way.
It's great, you want to come out and finish on a winning note and do the best you can.
Nothing is more discouraging than facing a tough defense and then giving up a quick score. I was definitely pleased with our defense.
They just didn't hit any outside shots. They made a basket early and we then went on a 17-0 run.
Becca (Sharon) had some big rebounds for us late in the game.
Becca has stepped it up in games for us before when we've needed some scoring. But she's not afraid to go down and mix it up on the boards as a point guard.
This is a great honor for the girls. I give them all the credit. They worked hard all week for this.
The girls took care of business. They played tough defense and put good pressure on the ball.
The girls played hard out there. They made a game of it after being down by 11.
