Somebody is going to have to break away sooner or later, but anybody can throw anybody off here, and that's been the case over the years, but now they're not playing favorites. Mike has just been so good from the beginning. When I first started with Schumacher, that's who I wanted. I didn't know if I was going to get hired or not, but I told Don Schumacher that if I had a choice, I wanted to work with Mike Neff because he's such a level guy. He doesn't show his emotion a lot. Sometimes we have to beat him up to get him to beat on the hood and get me jacked up. All these great crew chiefs like my crew chief because he doesn't get excited. He doesn't brag, he doesn't get in anybody's face. He just wants to run with them.

The right lane has a pretty big bump in it. Historically, it's been a one-lane race track, normally the left lane. So, I don't know if they've made any improvements or not. I haven't heard anything, but I guess we'll find out. Lane choice is critical here.

Running late tonight gave us a chance to run in perfect conditions, ... I know we won't have conditions like this tomorrow but we did learn that this racetrack can hold a lot more than we've been giving it.

This is a must-win race, ... Then we've got to go to Pomona (Calif.) and win there. The games are over. We need to do our thing and get it done and let everyone else worry about us.

This is when I seem to rise to the occasion. I'm excited about it. I'm ready to go to these next four races. If it were up to me, we could just do them all in a row.

This just shows how deep the talent level in Funny Car is, ... No one is intimidated by John Force or the Schumacher cars. The field is deep.

It was a serious run. I know we were on the limiter. I'm impressed with how these guys are working. They're really on it.

It's always harder to defend. I never thought we'd have the start that we had. Effort equals results, except in this case, because we put a lot of effort into this program over the winter and every week and we're just not seeing the results.

If the weather really does cool down this weekend in Dallas it will be great, ... Even if it doesn't, that's OK, because we can run in the heat.

But I have a feeling it's going to go down to Pomona (at the Auto Club Finals in November). I don't see anyone backing down.

Chicago is one of those race tracks that you love to go to. It's just incredible. The weather should be outstanding.
