We've tried to have it here. I'd like to know I have the pitching strength. Bethany can move the ball better than the other three. Nichole can pitch really fast. Emily and Michelle are young and they have a lot to learn.
Yesterday she didn't pitch as long as she normally does in practice because her arm was hurting. So I was concerned about today, but she did real well. She walked a couple but she's going to be the one to hold us in there.
Yesterday in practice every ball she hit went over the fence. She was due for it to go over the fence. That's all she's been able to work on is her hitting.
She did a good job. We have to work with her on placement of her feet, and catch the ball before she makes a play. I think we'll be OK.
Because we felt Freedom was a little weaker we tried a few things we wouldn't normally try in a close game. You have to see how your runners are going to do in these non-district games. The hit the ball well and they listened well.
I feel really strong about the infield I'm thinking about having. I feel good about my outfield too, I just don't know who that's going to be.
I expect that from her, and her play on first today was great. She's a good kid and a great athlete.
We just have to chalk this up to experience and hopefully once we get to district play it will look a lot better.
I think it's just going to be a sprain, possibly to her right shoulder. She's going to ice it tonight and the trainer is going to look at it again tomorrow.
I thought the first inning they had a few jitters and a couple errors and mental mistakes, but other than that I thought they played real well. The best part is that they really hit the ball well today and that is what is going to win these games for us is how well we hit the ball.
I think this year we're going to have to focus more on our defense. Our pitching is strong, but not as strong as it was last year.
Other than the three game skid, we shook it off. That's one thing about these teams is that we don't know anything about them. We did well with hitting the ball. Their pitcher wasn't that fast, but she was consistent.
We just couldn't hit the ball. Defense wasn't there either. If you don't have defense or offense you definitely aren't going to come out ahead.
We've had a lot of illnesses, but we have a long break now. We don't play until after April 18. It gives us some time to heal.
We hit the ball real well today and I was proud of that and they are working together and getting ready for next week when we start our district play. I am excited about that.
There's a chance she could be out indefinitely. She's pretty sick. We'll just have to grin and bear it.
They really gel well together. The best part of a freshmen team is that they are all freshmen. They're in class together. They play well together because they get along well.
The biggest key was holding them to not that many hits and that is what did it for us. We had those mental errors in the first and gave them those two runs in the beginning, but they were unearned runs.
The best part of it is, I've worked with all of them before. They know me and they know my coaching style. When you have young girls they're going to listen to you more than older girls who think they know everything.
They are young but they at least know how to play the game so you don't have to go over all those fundamentals as much. But I look forward to it that just means I have several more years to work with them.
I knew Bethany could produce for us. Last year she was my No. 2 pitcher, and she was young. She's improved a lot. Her batting has gotten a lot better too. I know she can do a good job.
