There are two of us in this office, we are not ready to die yet, but it is pretty bad.

Somebody makes a big play (in practice), there are guys celebrating, congratulating him on the sideline. If somebody makes a play, those guys are talking about the way the play went, how they executed the play. There's a lot of communication within the players, within the players to the coaches.

He was a little sluggish to start out with. It showed that he hadn't practiced for awhile.

I would say that in the last three or so practices, we're starting to see some quickness ? quickness in the different techniques he needs to use at that nose guard position.

I think it's obvious that we've brought some kids in that can play. (But) the biggest thing is these kids have been in the system now. This is the third year. They have a really good understanding of our system. I think they have a good understanding of how we coach and how to react to our coaching. That's the biggest difference.

I think this one here can be very good. I've had some great ones, though.

We have been doing a very good job mixing up our rush calls, and I think our kids are very in tune with what we are calling, and they are executing. They have a good understanding of what is going on and down and distance, and our get up off the ball has been very good because of that.

Everything we do, we're playing a lot faster than we ever have. We have a better understanding of our zone concepts, our man concepts, our pressure game. Everything just goes a lot faster. The kids have confidence in what they're doing, and if you have confidence, you're able to play fast and you're able to execute.

The one thing about Steve, he's got a tremendous motor. But he still has a ways to go as far as his checks and things like that. We're looking for the exactness in his play, and that's got to continue to develop.

There was some of it. I'm not going to say there wasn't. But I'm seeing more of it right now.

It's probably going to be the biggest decision the seven of us ever make together.

It's our job, and we have to continue to rise to the occasion. We've been through adverse situations, and if we have to do that all year, that's what we're going to do.

It was great to finally get a chance to get back out there and interact with the players in a practice setting. You could already see improvement in some of the guys from winter conditioning, and we want to continue to build on that progress in spring ball.
