We're going to make plays because we play hard. They just happen. If you fly around hard enough, they come your way.

We thought we could get more pressure. Obviously, the rookie, but I don't think that was it. I think if we make the plays that were available to us, it's never a factor.

Meeting them was impressive. You could tell both guys were bright. They handled the interview process very well. Then the game tape was very impressive. Once you sort through all the b.s., there's all kinds of stuff on every kid, but they were both bright-eyed and very smart.

Maybe I don't feel so good when you put it like that. It's going to be fierce, so you have to stand up and get it done.

I don't have a magic answer. If you play cornerback in this league, they're going to get you once in a while.

He?s a brilliant teacher and a great communicator. And he?s knowledgeable. He?s got the experience and knows how to teach each player, I think. That?s an art form.

He's playing very intently and fiercely. That, to me, is the sign of a maturing guy. If you don't prepare, it shows in a game. To me, if you prepare, if you invest time, you get a pretty good feel for what you might get. And he's doing a great job pre-snap, he knows what could happen before it does.

It came down to coordination. We knew they were going to throw one-step passes. . . . The deal was, we didn't want them to run the ball. And what they did was let 3-yard gains turn into 12-yard passes. We can't do that.

I think some of that's overblown. They're going to run their offense and we're going to play our defense. Sometimes, early, they might target a guy.

My pitch wasn't too bad. He wanted to come to UCLA, but we made the mistake of taking another guy and he went to Washington and I think beat them three out of four.

The answer makes me sick. But here it is, and it's just like it's supposed to be: You've got the best football teams (in the playoffs), and if you want to make it through, you've got to be the best one.

We put him in a bad deal. We were humiliated. They kicked every man's butt out there ? coaches, players, everybody. He's taken a lot of heat. For him to take the brunt of that wouldn't be fair.

We're certainly bigger, faster than we've been. Our guys are okay. They can play at a high level; they just have to know that. We're not without talent, let's put it that way.

We have to research a lot of things to see what particular scheme (they will run).

We're very well aware that he was off the field too much in those situations. One thing that we have to be conscious of as we go is that doesn't happen again. We've got to rotate in our nickel situations.

We'll put a guy in there who's a veteran player, and he's got some emotion too, now, on Tick (Burns). Everybody forgets that. Old Tick will do fine. He can get after it, now.

We've worked hard and, hopefully, we have some sort of feel and we're ready to go. But that's one of the great things about playing against our offense, is they prepare us for just about anything. Truly they have. So I think that's in our corner.

There are preconceived notions and ideas. But they may change if a guy goes out there and plays. There's a ton of examples that have changed on game day. I'm sure the people who are with us making those decisions have pretty good thoughts, but I do think this is an important game. Who can play and who can't?

When you have bad things happen to you, you have to grow. You have to take it, and (the Colts) gave it to us. But we can't take it anymore. We have to fight to see we do the best we can. And it's the ability to be competitive no matter who you're playing.

The speed . . . changes from practice to the game. It's a whole different deal. And you've got to learn it's a fast game out there, and I think that's good for us. There's a focus there.

Same old John. Reliable. A leader. A little better than you might think he is. A little more skill there than you might first perceive. We're fortunate to have him.

That offense is all about rhythm. (Brady) gets in that rhythm with those receivers and it's bad for you. Just bad.

You've got to step it up. It's not the same. What you did during the regular season, it's not good enough. You've got to be better. Those guys will be better. They've studied you, they've looked at what you do. There are very few secrets when you get to this point. You have to be good enough to handle these guys.

You stop Tomlinson, you've got a chance to win. You don't, you can't beat them.

You never know what it does to a quarterback if we turn that into a turnover. The fact of the matter is you have to take advantage of your opportunities.

They were just so much quicker than we were. And that's the intensity level.

This guy's got bullet speed. So he can do things I can't coach. That no one can coach. He can do things that only guys with that kind of talent can. He'll cover 60 yards at times to make a play. He's intent. And that's what makes him tick. If he ever loses that, he'd be just another guy.

They are skilled, skilled players at tight end. They can hurt you. They're strong, and they can get away from you once they get the ball.

A combination of many things. This group plays together. We learned from past errors.

It's truly the hot kettle because here it is.

It's the opportunity of a lifetime, for all the young kids.

Everybody's got to rally. We've got to step up -- including me. We've all got to step in and we've got to go, wake up and get it on.

I know turnovers have been a big part of what we've done. You've got to have them, you've just got to have them.

In the pass-rush stuff, Corey Jackson jumped out.

I don't know if people really appreciate what Sam did. He was the fifth DB in what we call 'The Big Nickel.' He actually played corner, so he was really versatile, and that was really a help to us.

I don't know. I'm glad they are. . . . But I really can't answer that.

He's made some huge plays. The play he made against New England was a huge play, it was the play of the year. . . . The thing about the guy is, he never gets down, never too high, never too low, just keep on playing. That's what makes him special.

You can trust him to do anything. And this isn't just an old guy that goes out there. He can play. He's physical. He's tough and he knows what we're doing. And the whole team respects him.

These guys are fighters. And anybody who doubts them is an idiot. They're tough. And I'm proud to be around them.

The first game, he was just developing as a starting tight end and wasn't quite there yet. And between that time and the time we saw him the second time, I've never seen a guy blossom like that. He went to the No. 1 receiving tight end in football in the space of our first game and the second game. . . . He was incredible. We caught a day where the weather wasn't too good (in December), and that helped us. And we played hard against him. But he's very good. He's a major-league talent.

All of this is a combination of having a good pass rush, having good coverage and playing together.
