For whatever reason, the media attention is at a whole new level, ... I do not remember spending this much time fielding phone calls, doing TV sound bites, posing for magazine covers. I certainly never had anyone following me around for a day or two.
I would like it to be better than what it is, ... but there's nothing more we can do. We're in the same boat we were in '99. With 10 days left before the Open, it got really hot -- in the mid-90s. We need that.
This gives us time for all the ball marks on the greens to heal over and most of the fairway divots to heal in. It's a pretty pristine golf course by the time they get out here on Monday.
It's spotty -- that's a good word for it.
In some places, it's two inches. In some places, it's three inches. We're hoping in two weeks it won't be an issue.
But if it helps promote our profession, I'm more than happy to run with the ball.
