We hope (McCormick) has listened to the tens of thousands of alumnae and friends who have talked about the relevance of Douglass College. We are incredibly proud of the outpouring of support.
The name Douglass College for alumnae evokes awe-inspiring pride, a rich history and connectedness from one generation to the next. Diminishing Douglass College's name sends a disingenuous message about our commitment to women's education.
I was hopeful they would agree to a name change. I'm sure there will be lots of alumnae who are disappointed.
A name represents identity, a deep feeling and holds tremendous significance to its owner.
