Randy Dunton is a former head men's basketball coach at Liberty University. He had been the assistant under head coach Jeff Meyer, who was subsequently let go in 1997. However, he was not offered a contract at the end of the season, and Mel Hankinson became the head coach...
inability lane punch somebody
Our inability to find somebody who can give us a punch in the lane is a real handicap.
against basketball credit deserved floor fought hard positives saw south team tonight
I saw a lot of positives tonight on the floor for us as we fought hard against a seasoned Big South basketball program. We are very young and they are the most experienced team in our league. I give them all the credit tonight as they deserved to win.
game great plays shoot special
He's a special player. He plays with a great pace. He's got an inside-out game and he can shoot it with range. He's a load.
academic care dug expect himself hole structure urgency
He was not responsible to the structure of our academic program. I think this should take care of it. He dug himself a hole in the first semester, and I expect a sense of urgency we haven't seen.
assisted jack life ourselves project
Life is a do-it-yourself project and we Jack Kevorkian-ed ourselves tonight. It was assisted suicide.
certainly ran
We certainly ran into a buzz-saw. They churned us up.
good seen team tenure
They're as good a team as I've seen in my tenure in the Big South.
believe compete excited group hard kids preparing season
They're excited to play together. That's one thing I'm excited to see. We have a group of kids who are preparing very, very hard for the season because they believe they can compete effectively.
blame coaching half nobody ourselves performance poor since
It was a very poor performance in that first half. We've got nobody to blame but ourselves for that. ? I was as disappointed with that first half of play as I've been with any half since I've been coaching at Liberty.
absolutely bodies easy forward road starting step steps time year
You're in that time of the year when their bodies are absolutely starting to wilt, and you're on the road and you're struggling. It's easy to take a step back mentally. This is where we need to take steps forward mentally. We weren't able to do that.
basketball both five guys iq operate sound tonight trying
The thing I appreciated about that lineup tonight is that, hey, we've got five guys out there that are really trying to operate with a basketball IQ and really play sound basketball on both ends.
bracket buck dropped five games home kids played road seven side six stretch team tough wins
We just went through a tough stretch and played five of those games on the road and dropped two at home that we could have won. We could get six or seven wins on this side of the bracket if the kids really buck up and play. ? This team could still be very dangerous.
flashes game greatness happy needed players plays solid step terms three
We're just immature, and we're not where we need to be in terms of competitive greatness. Yet, there's times when there's flashes of very solid basketball. That's where we've been. I'm not happy with it, and we're very disappointed that two or three players couldn't step their game up and make the plays they needed to make when the game was in the balance.
doughnut
We have got to get some more contributions from the post. We're a doughnut down there and that has to be addressed.
