Yeah, I think it has been blown out of proportion. I'm going to stay away from it. Both have great '12th men,' and I don't think it is worth all the trouble.
Usually, guards are either really good run blocking or pass blocking. He does both so well. It's kind of hard to get after him because he's such a tremendous athlete.
We tried it to do this a couple of years ago,
I don't know what I'd do without EK. Each week, I need something.
He tries to stay away. But he watches the film and always makes comments on things you need to work on. He's still very much a part of what we do.
He's basically the same guy. He has good feet on him. He did a really good job last year.
I wouldn't say he was rattled, but he started to get out of rhythm.
I was watching TV and they were saying that of all the teams in the playoffs, we had the weakest defense out of all of them. I think that's kind of a slap in the face to us, and go out and prove to people we're not just an offensive team.
I think his being sick has actually made us focus up a lot more,
Man, it's really unbelievable. I can't even believe it now that it's here. It feels good.
We do have a great offense, but we also have a great defense. Nobody talks about us. But respect is earned, not given, so today we just had to go out and prove it.
We led the league in sacks but you don't hear too much about it. If we win the big game the whole world will know about it.
Big Ben has been making plays all year long when he rolls outside of the pocket. He got outside of the pocket a couple times and made some plays.
They are a different offensive without (Vick) in the game, ... You can get after the quarterback. We said, 'Let's turn the heat up on this guy.'
Sometimes, when rookies come in, the vets don't want to take you under their wings because you could be the guy who takes their job. But one thing about Johnny, he's a big Texas guy, and I'm from Texas. So he liked me, and he wanted to help me and he just showed me the way.
That's just one way to show how much we've come together. It wasn't always like that in past seasons. It was obvious the offense always jelled really well. But defensively, we were never really on the same page.
At a time like this you really see how really important he is to our defense. He's the creator and he's got all the guys he wants in here. With him gone, it's been a little different. But we're still running the defenses he calls.
It's like night and day when you compare this team to last year's team, and Chuck's a big part of that. He's changed this whole defense around, just that one guy.
That's probably a side of him you wouldn't see.
It's still a little hard to believe we're going. I just want to enjoy this for a bit. I'm sure it will sink in soon enough.
It's amazing. I'm still in shock. It's just unbelievable.
I've just been waiting for all this to get settled. I didn't understand what was going on in depth until I looked at it closely. It's all business, you know?
I wanted to pick it up and score, but I knew I had to cover it first. So I landed on it and kept rolling. I was hoping to roll right into the end zone, but I didn't quite get there.
I'm glad the world got to see that.
I mean, if a team just goes out and overpowers you, then you're like, 'Hey, we got beat.' But I think we beat ourselves.
I just want to stay clear of that. I play here and I went to school there. I have strong feelings for both places.
I'm not taking anything away from the Steelers' defense, but hopefully now people will be talking about both of our defenses. Nobody talks about us, so we have to go out and prove it every week.
In years past, that's what has hurt us: our defense. We pretty much had all new faces on defense (in 2005), so you never knew how things would turn out. But we've done pretty well.
Chuck and Grant really worry about stuff like that because they're team guys, and it's working out really well for everybody now. I'm not trying to be selfish, but the difference this year is everybody's really working together.
I don't really want to get caught in the middle of it. It's something that meant a lot to me when I was down there at A&M. The 12th Man is huge. The fans are just unbelievable. Same thing in Seattle.
He's an amazing athlete. It's always exciting to get a sack on him. It's really rewarding, and it takes a load off your shoulders.
You can't put just anybody back there and simulate what Mike can do. With Seneca here, he's really going to give us a good look.
You can't play this game if you're not having fun. This game is played on so much emotion that when you're out there, you have to get after it a little bit.
