We're not ready to give up the crown just yet.
It was very important (to have the lead). We weren't shooting very well but we were shooting our free throws. We had some break downs on defense. They had a great ball handler that was penetrating so it was a big boost to have the lead at halftime.
During one of the timeouts, I told the seniors to step up, play defense. Everybody took a deep breath and played better.
We are right back where we were last year. I think it's great for the city and our area. But this will be tougher this year.
It was the eye of the Tiger. She came to the sideline and said, 'I don't want to lose. Put it in my hands.' For a sophomore to say that, that's huge.
We've been struggling all year, but this win was really amazing.
They came out in the same defense that we run. They pressured the ball and didn't let us get good shots. They pressed. They made it difficult on the boards. It was a complete effort on their part. They were the better team today.
All year long, if one of the three get in foul trouble, the other two stepped up. That's what happened today.
I wasn't sure before we got here, but I understand now how hard it is to get here and to win it. It's been a long season, but everybody pulled together. The girls got better and better and didn't quit.
We came out and played with a lot of energy. We had a pretty good game plan, but we just let it get away from us. We had too many turnovers early and dug ourselves a hole. We do not have enough scorers to be able to dig ourselves out of a hole.
