China will, along with various parties, continue its support to the diplomatic efforts aiming at an early and appropriate solution to this issue within the framework of the IAEA.

China believes that using diplomatic means within the framework of the Agency (IAEA) to resolve the Iranian nuclear issue is conducive to peace and stability in the region concerned, is conducive to safeguarding the international non-proliferation regime, and is in line with the fundamental interests of all parties.

We believe that there is room within the IAEA to resolve this. Iran should give up uranium enrichment, but others should remain calm and patient.

The Chinese Government has insisted consistently that the Iranian nuclear issue should be appropriately resolved through negotiations and co-operation within the framework of the IAEA.

The Chinese side hopes that Iran will resume suspension of its nuclear fuel R&D activities and resume negotiations with the European side as soon as possible.

Only through negotiations can a solution be found that conforms to the interests of all the parties.
