I was just being obedient to what my parents saw in me. I was more interested in the things the women in my family, my mom, grandmother and aunt were all about: homemaking and cooking and housekeeping. I wanted to be a housewife and mom.
It was designed to be a live, flexible environment and -- given that it had an entertainment base -- I loved it. It was like breathing pure oxygen.
I had some great mentors as I was coming up and starting to sing so early - I've been singing since I was four.
