We didn't really get what we expected out of either starting pitcher. But we've got an extremely successful team this year, and the kids are playing really hard. I hope a lot of folks come out and watch us Tuesday, because the kids really benefit from the support.
All the way around, it's a difficult situation you don't want to be in, in any way. It's a tough pill for them to swallow, and hopefully a team can learn from that.
An 18-year-old kid can get confused in that situation. It's impossible to go around and tell every player what to do on every pitch. We have to learn as a team that in the late innings, which runners matter and which ones don't, and that wasn't the time to try and make a play.
