My most important identity now is as a mother.

My mother has often said that the issue of women is the unfinished business of the 21st century. That is certainly true. But so, too, are the issues of LGBTQ rights the unfinished business of the 21st century.

I unapologetically and unabashedly am deeply biased toward my mother.

I was working full time and going to school at night and on the weekends. It was just crazy. It's a funny thing to realize I feel called to this work both as a daughter and also as someone who believes I have contributions to make.
