against game huge last losing nice played split tough year
We hadn't played real well against them here, and last year as well. It's nice to come in here after losing a tough game yesterday, and getting the split was huge for us.
great known tip tremendous
That was a tremendous play, and he's known for that. He's a great outfielder, and sometimes you have to tip your cap.
bat bit chance consistent drive good stay swing trying zone
I was trying to put a good swing on a pitch. I was trying to give myself a chance to drive in some runs. I'm trying to stay more consistent and get my bat through the zone a little bit better and give myself a chance.
ball checked great grip guy hand happened head hit next sure threw underneath
I was going to glove it at first, and when it hit it kind of checked up, and the next thing that went through my head was (to) make sure the ball doesn't go underneath my hand because the guy could score. I just happened to get a great grip on the ball and threw the guy out.
bit ease knowing last nice pitchers scoring start year
Last year we didn't start too well on the road, and it's nice to get off to a better start. Knowing that we're scoring some runs, it's always nice to put our pitchers at ease a little bit and let them relax.
steps taken
She has taken as many as 12 steps before crashing.
far gratifying last miss obviously witness year
I did miss it last year as far as being out on the field, but I did get to witness it on the bench, and that's better than nothing. It's obviously a lot more gratifying than watching.
baseball best tough
It's tough when one of your best friends in baseball does it. It's bittersweet.
career luckily might surgery taken time whether
It was my first time and you don't know how to take that. Whether it's going to be career threatening or if it's something that you got to have surgery on where you might not be able to play. It was luckily something that could be taken care of.
double greatest plays
It was probably one of the greatest double plays ever turned.
chris hitters hitting knew nine takes
It takes all nine of us hitting in the lineup. Chris and I knew we are better hitters than what we've been showing.
help pitcher pitchers plays throwing whenever
Whenever you've got your pitcher out there throwing strikes, you've got to come up with some big plays sometimes to help the pitchers out.
ahead biggest defense rely relying timely
We had (Carlos) Beltran and (Jeff) Kent and (Jeff) Bagwell, and they could all put us ahead with one swing. This year, we rely on pitching, we play defense and we look for timely hitting. The biggest thing is, we're not relying on one person.
adding anybody doubt gives pressure produce
We want to produce as much as anybody else. It gives us a boost, no doubt about it. When we're hitting, there's a lot more pressure on the pitcher. Plus, we're adding on, which is something that we haven't done as much as we'd like to.
