We had a couple that couldn't get out here, but it was good to get out here and get day No. 1 under our belts. We've got a lot of spring break still in us. I saw some positive things, but I've got to see a lot more. But it was good to go ahead and get on the surface and work our way back into conditioning. We worked on our agility quite a bit and got a few things done offensively and defensively." ()

We are very excited about him. You wonder about the learning curve because they throw a lot of defenses at you, but he is focused in there. (Offensive line coach Steve Haywood) has done a good job helping him learn things and I think that has helped him get considerable playing time with that first group." ()

We didn't play assignment football at the end like we should have defensively to stop the option. We attacked the quarterback pretty well in the third quarter, but then the fullback got us on some bend-backs late in the ballgame. We had people in the right positions, but I'm disappointed in the missed tackles." ()

Brandon let the post get inside him one time, but to be honest with you he played well considering. We were pleased overall with what he did. He was very physical and he is a very, very good tackler." ()

The officials told me that they got locked up and both of them were too active with their arms or their feet in a negative way, and said they are not going to be able to play anymore. I haven't had a chance to talk to Joe and I am not going to pass judgment until I see the video tape and talk to him." ()

Drake is coming up next week, which will make a four-day week for us. We will have to regroup quickly. They are a good team and will offer a big challenge for us." ()

(Athletic Director and head basketball) coach (Dave) Loos did a really fabulous job working that first game out for us. He spent a lot of time on the phone trying to make it work for Austin Peay. I've very appreciative of that. We're going to be able to have a home game in our transition year in the opener here at Governors Stadium and it just comes form his hard work. How we'll play, we'll know on the second (of September). But I know, we're excited about the opportunity." ()

That took a lot of wind out of our sails. A lot of guys said 'Oh my' after that one. It was a bad snap and a bad punt." ()

They've got a really good football team. Today we got beat by the strength of an older, more experienced football team. They run through tackles on offense and come at you downhill. On defense, they have a lot of speed on the outside and pressured our young players." ()

The beginning of the game backed us into a corner. UD got us into bad field position and then built up a lead. They were able to play downhill for most of the game with us fighting to get back to midfield." ()

Anytime we're able to get people back from injury is good. David has gotten better these three back-to-back days. We had some specifics we wanted to work on. I thought we got better in some coverage areas and I think we made some ground with some of our perimeter players." ()

I hope that we will see a big crowd (tonight). A lot of these young men have a lot of fans. I hope they will all show up and will be our 12th man in the red and white so we can go out here and have a lot of enthusiasm." ()

I'm pleased with what we've done so far. But this is a big, big week, to see how much more we can improve. Every individual group has goals we're working on. I thought we got good work today; we picked it up more at the end in live competition. I think it's important we have segments every day where we put them in competitive situations, while working hard on our fundamentals." ()

I didn't think our execution was as good today. ... Maybe camp is getting to us a little, about 10 days in with about four to go. But I just didn't think our concentration was as good. It has to be much better, much quicker." ()

I am very, very pleased with our football team that they could shake off what happened to us the last 14 days and come out here and execute even when adversity hit us a little bit. I hope that says something about our team that we can grow." ()
