assignment attacked football late missed people stop third
We didn't play assignment football at the end like we should have defensively to stop the option. We attacked the quarterback pretty well in the third quarter, but then the fullback got us on some bend-backs late in the ballgame. We had people in the right positions, but I'm disappointed in the missed tackles." ()
good honest inside overall physical played pleased post
Brandon let the post get inside him one time, but to be honest with you he played well considering. We were pleased overall with what he did. He was very physical and he is a very, very good tackler." ()
coach curve excited focused good helped helping job learning line playing steve throw time wonder
We are very excited about him. You wonder about the learning curve because they throw a lot of defenses at you, but he is focused in there. (Offensive line coach Steve Haywood) has done a good job helping him learn things and I think that has helped him get considerable playing time with that first group." ()
caused consistent injuries wish
I wish we were a little more consistent in what we were doing. I think injuries have caused us to be that way some." ()
beat focus happening players playing pride stayed team together turn
We can't focus on what was happening on the scoreboard. I told our players that the one thing that they can't beat us at is playing with pride and class. We stayed together as a team and we did not turn on each other." ()
bit full great means moving next playing start stick week work
I think just getting out here means we can start a measuring stick and really work from there. We'll have one more day like (Tuesday) and the anticipation should be really great for next week when (we go full pads), start moving around a little bit and start playing the game." ()
ball broke came challenged chris fast guys others time
(Valparaiso) came out fast and got us on our heels. But at the same time we challenged our guys to make some plays. So when we got the ball back and Chris broke the big play, a lot of times one guy making the big play really, really makes others think they can, too." ()
confidence proved
That was interesting to see. I think it proved that Jess has confidence in a lot of people." ()
agility ahead bit break couple few good positive quite saw spring surface work worked
We had a couple that couldn't get out here, but it was good to get out here and get day No. 1 under our belts. We've got a lot of spring break still in us. I saw some positive things, but I've got to see a lot more. But it was good to go ahead and get on the surface and work our way back into conditioning. We worked on our agility quite a bit and got a few things done offensively and defensively." ()
finish fourth game ourselves position win
We put ourselves in a position to win the game in the fourth quarter. We just couldn't finish it." ()
backed bad beginning built downhill field fighting game position
The beginning of the game backed us into a corner. UD got us into bad field position and then built up a lead. They were able to play downhill for most of the game with us fighting to get back to midfield." ()
evaluate everybody last moved moves moving next opposed spots stay whether
We're going to evaluate whether we moved the right guys. We're not opposed to moving any more. But with the two moves last week, and now with Brandon this week, everybody else should stay in their spots pretty much between now and next Tuesday." ()
chance dig early momentum ourselves played short situation
We played well in a short yardage situation early on, but we were not able to dig ourselves out of the hole. We had a chance to take some momentum back, but we did not execute." ()
beat football good offense outside pressured run speed strength today
They've got a really good football team. Today we got beat by the strength of an older, more experienced football team. They run through tackles on offense and come at you downhill. On defense, they have a lot of speed on the outside and pressured our young players." ()
