good league means sixth
He doesn't like it, and I don't like it, but he's had to be a different kind of pitcher. He's sixth in the league in strikeouts looking, which means he still has good stuff, he's just had to adjust. He'll get better.
best closer field fought good left
He made a good pitch. Coghlan fought it off and got it into left field and that was the game. We had an opportunity. We had our closer in there, who is one of the best there is, and didn't get it done.
basketball division good great high himself kid people player school
He's a great kid and really an inspiration to people to play Division I baseball. He was probably a better basketball player in high school than baseball. But he has made himself a very good Division I catcher.
bulk growing weight
He's got some growing to do, I hope. He's kind of got a rangy body; we need some bulk on it. We've got to get some weight on him. That's going to be a big thing, for him to get a little stronger.
played
He's played well. We'll have to see how it goes.
allow arm believe bring extra fair felt few fully gain half needed pitch season seasons strength time weeks
He is still a few weeks away from being able to pitch effectively. We felt that he needed to take the extra time and fully allow his arm to gain strength before he pitched. I also believe it wasn't fair to him to bring him back for half a season when he can come back and pitch two full seasons at full strength.
came eight frustrated games last pitching quality starting
It came down to starting pitching and we didn't get any and we didn't make the plays. I'm as frustrated as I've even been with the starting pitching. We have had one quality start in the last eight games and that will not get it done.
brad conference daniel david door good job series shutting tomorrow
I thought David pitched pretty well for his first conference outing. Brad and Daniel did a good job of shutting the door once we put them into the game. We need to come out and play well tomorrow so we can end this series on a good note.
along assume mike pitch ready rotation talked
I said all along that if he was not going to be ready to assume his rightful place in the rotation than we wouldn't pitch him, and that's what we decided. I talked with Mike and his family, and everybody's in agreement.
barry start throws
Patrick throws strikes, and that's what you want in that role. Barry will start there for now.
compete main program reason
That's the main reason I wanted them. They're a program that can come in and compete right away.
