best dedication enjoyed field football hard individual loved saw took wife work
I think what you saw out there on the football field was an individual who really just loved the game. I was just like a little kid. I enjoyed the hard work and the dedication and the preparation I had to make to try to be one of the best receivers to ever play the game. The first 10 years, my wife and I, we never took a vacation.
advantage hard opportunity wants worker
I just told him, 'Hey, you've got to let it go. He's a hard worker and I think he wants success, but he's got to keep on pushing. When the opportunity is there, that's when you've got to take advantage of it.
football hard-work thinking
I think just what my parents instilled in me was hard work and being able to always go out there and focus and be 100%. I took that work ethic into the NFL and everyday I always gave 100% and never wanted anything to be handed to me. I wanted to earn it. And every time I stepped on that football field during practice I wanted to leave that football field with learning something about what the practice was about for me that day.
school parent work-ethic
My work ethic came from my parents and my fear of failure. I came from a small, predominantly black school and I didn't want to let them down.
hard-work practice said
Like I said, repetition in practice and hard work.
football hard-work player
I think the thing about that was I was always willing to work; I was not the fastest or biggest player but I was determined to be the best football player I could be on the football field and I think I was able to accomplish that through hard work.
field football individual loved saw
What you saw out there on the football field was an individual who loved the game.
best came felt gave head high hold shot stay
I felt I came in and gave it my best shot and I still wanted to play. It didn't happen. I am still going to hold my head high and stay positive.
hard until
I think it was the right thing. I know how hard this was for him. He would like to play until he was 60 if he could.
best bore exactly example expected field football francisco full left san setting since younger
Over the years, probably since I left San Francisco (in 2000), this is one of my best camps. I know exactly what to do on the football field out there. I know what is expected of me every practice, going full bore and setting an example for the younger guys. I'm having a lot of fun.
everybody guys joe knew lucky steve
I think everybody knew he was going to be special, but we didn't know when. Just like Joe had a presence, Steve had a presence. It was different, but it was there. We just knew we were lucky to have two guys like that.
jerry
I think Jerry can still contribute, but it's got to be in the right situation.
calling opponent people plays regroup routes saying start
People are on to us right now. They're got our number. We have to regroup and start doing something a little more different. I'm not saying we're predictable, but when you've got the opponent out there calling out plays, and they know what's coming, then we've got a problem. They know what plays we're calling. They pretty much know what routes we're running. They pretty much have us down right now.
football played
To me it was never about what I accomplished on the football field, ... it was about the way I played the game.
