We feel better about it today than we did going into the game. We still have to see how they do with tighter coverage. Boise State played mostly soft coverage, not much press at all so no one had to worry about getting off a jam or redirecting or that kind of thing. We'll see how they handle a little more pressure.
Last year, they played a bunch of close games. Learning how to win doesn't happen overnight. Coach (Bobby) Johnson has done a good job of teaching that in a real methodical way.

Once he settled in, he played fantastic. He's just poised, kept us in the game and I'm just real proud of the job that he did.

I've tried to keep it simple for him and just say, 'Protect the ball and relax,' ... I don't expect him not to have pregame jitters or not have a ball spray on him here or there. That's happened to every player I've coached. It's hard to get in a groove until you've played enough plays. I'm confident that once he gets into a groove, he will be a heck of a quarterback for us.
Overall, it was fairly sloppily played offensively, but there was some beauty in our ability to run the ball.
He played better than we expected he would. We hope he's excited about his opportunity and takes advantage of it.
We're expecting to get him back this season. We just don't know when.
