best both healthy held injured normally
It comes down to what's best for him and the team. It's best for both to try to get as healthy as possible. I know it's frustrating for him that he can't play the way he normally plays, because he's being held back (by the injured ankle).
bad balanced game involved jason jefferson missed normally richard scoring shots standpoint talk terms
Richard Jefferson is going to be more involved in Game 2. We know that Jason Kidd is going to be more involved from a scoring standpoint in terms of his aggressiveness. Carter, you can talk about his bad shooting, but he still had 31 points. He missed a lot of point-blank shots he normally makes. They're going to be more balanced in their attack.
error hard margin numbers paint points
I think it's a continuance of the same things we've said for a while. The margin of error for us is not great. They had 13 second-chance points and 50 points in the paint and those numbers are hard to overcome.
certainly everybody happy side speak winning
I think I speak for everybody when I say that we like winning better than we like losing. We're certainly happy to get on the winning side of a game. It's been a while.
certainly face situation
It certainly was a very important game. Let's face it, it was critical. We're in a must-win situation every night.
ball behind defensive fact guys lost share understand work
I think the guys rallied behind the fact that we lost (O'Neal). It's important for us to understand what can be accomplished collectively when we share the ball and work at the defensive end.
both build complete continue control emotions great job keeping league nobody playoffs tone
I thought he did a great job keeping his emotions under control in both series. I look for him to build on that. There's nobody in this league that always has complete control of their emotions. I thought he set a great tone in the playoffs and I look for him to continue in that vein.
fourth hitting phenomenal quarter shot third
He (Redd) was phenomenal with his shot making, especially in the third and the fourth (quarters). Then all of them were hitting threes after a while. The third quarter did us in.
guy players
He's a guy that our players look up to because he's been on a championship team. He has some credibility because of that.
almost great impressed
He's a great young player. He can almost do anything on the court. I can't tell you how impressed I am at how he's played.
chose entered excellent guard means point wants
He's a legit point guard with size, he's an excellent defender, and he still hasn't entered his prime, ... The other thing we like about Chauncey is that he really wants to be here. He chose us over 12 to 14 other teams. That means a lot.
confidence learned playing plays point ready rookies sort teams tougher veteran year
He's at the point now where rookies are still rookies, but they have a veteran sort of confidence about them, and he should. The other thing he has learned this year is that when he plays well, it's going to be tougher to keep playing well because teams are going to keep getting ready for you.
couple last
He's doing a little better the last couple of days. My sense is that he'll play.
create definitely everybody featured gets harder knows shots teams tougher work
He's definitely a more featured player. It gets tougher now because everybody knows how important he is as our No. 1 scorer. We have to work harder to get him better shots and he's going to have to work harder to create opportunities for himself, too, because teams are keying on him.
