Last Friday, we didn't really expect him to do anything but get worse whereas as in fact, each day he's made some improvement. I don't want to give you the impression that we're jumping with joy or he's definitely going to recover. It's just a step in the right direction.

He's a tremendous fighter, unbelievable, ... None of us I think have seen anybody come through so many serious complications as he's had. He must be a very strong person inside it all.

I am afraid that he could die at any time over the next 24 hours, ... I would be very surprised if he survived another 24 hours.

He had a disturbed night but he is still very alert, very sedated on the ventilator. He remains critically ill but fairly stable.
