We're starting to get some really good swings up there, but we're also showing a lot of patience at the plate. Now that we're getting some real work in, things are starting to look up. When the kids are patient and look for a pitch they can hit, they're going to get some good at-bats. I don't think scoring should be a problem for us this year if we continue to show good discipline at the plate.

Of course there are all the negative reviews, which also are incredibly important. Hilton Kramer hated the work, and if he had loved it I would have wanted to commit suicide. I still remember to this day that he called me a lunatic and he said the work is the kind of trash that washed ashore when the tide of pop art went out... and I thought, Gee, if he doesn't like what I'm doing, then I must be on the right track.

Bart is a tremendously talented individual with an exceptional intellect, coupled with a strong work ethic and a healthy dollop of grounded common sense. He brings another well-needed executive dimension to our management team.

Fundamentals are the focus during spring drills. Every spring, we work on blocking and tackling and the little things that end up being the big things - the basics of football.

He has set aside the charade of Kyoto and he is saying we can do it in a better way, a more responsible way, ... We will come up with an alternative. We want to work with our allies on this and our friends around the world, and we will.

Right now, our biggest challenge is getting a few games and some good outdoor practices in. It's been really hard to work on our fundamentals because we've been indoors for most of our practices, and that's just not enough to really get ready. We're also a pretty young team, especially in our pitching staff, so we just really need those extra games that we've lost.

We have a lot of events coming up, such as Tennessee Week for the Animals in October. We work closely with the Maryville Animal Shelter, which has been just great.

When I first started the Project, I could not have expected so much to be accomplished in such a short time. None of my concerns about giving money to an academic institution came true. They've done high quality work with real-world relevance.

We were all figuring out ways to build an image rather than paint it. Sculptors didn't want to work in bronze or marble or wax. They wanted to find a material that didn't have any art use. We were similarly trying to find ways of working that were not about paint-it-in, paint-it-out, scrape-it-off -- some way of working all over at once.

We seek information about confidential sources from reporters only when it really, really matters, ... What is broken about the way we are handling subpoenas to the media? ... I don't see anything in our work that justifies discarding 33 years of careful practice that has served the nation well.

We're talking to another property owner on one end, and to Weyerhaeuser on the other end about possibly adding a piece that belongs to them. If we can get those properties in escrow, and the numbers work out, we're probably going to pursue developing that into an 18-hole golf course.

When critics begin to identify something that they see as a tendency, they tend to write about what people have in common. And what they share may not be the most important aspects of the work. In fact, it's what makes each artist's work different from the others which is interesting.

It's been a good group of girls, and they will be missed. No problems, and they work real hard. We know what (Claiborne) has. It may be this year, but if we get that far, we'll relish the opportunity to play them again. We're not in awe of them. We just want to beat them. We've played a good schedule, and we're ready to get back to South State.

These guys work hard, they're honest, they're nice. I trust them with my tools, money, anything.
